Eminem Honors Mentor Dr. Dre and Jimmy lovine at WSJ. Magazine’s 2014 Innovator Awards

A nervous Eminem stood up at the Wall Street Innovator Awards on Wednesday, November 5th held at the Musuem of Modern Art in NYC to honor Dr. Dre and Jimmy lovine for their entrepreneurship. He paid tribute to The Beats co-founders by stating that “Dre and Jimmy are like a force of nature….As an example of how powerful they are, they had me fly here all the way from Detroit to speak publicly, and I really hate public speaking.”

The duo were being celebrated, in part, at the awards for recently launching their undergraduate academy at USC, called The USC Jimmy lovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation. The program is catering to young individuals, who are completing an undergraduate degreein business, marketing, product development, design and liberal arts. Dre and lovine (whose daughter attended the university) hope that the program develops the young individuals enrolled to be professionals who might end up working for them, even if it’s not in the music business. The academy was actually bankrolled by the duo’s $70 million dollar donation, from the $3 billion dollar profit they made by selling Beats to Apple.

At the awards, Dr. Dre stated “I feel like this is the biggest, most exciting and probably the most important thing that I’ve done in my career.”
